While the mycorrhizal literature often states that
low levels of phosphorus induce better mycorrhizal
colonization and function, it's not always true.

See the work of Robert Linderman in Oregon and
Fred T. Davies in Texas on slow-release fertilizers
in combination with mycorrhizal inoculation.

In working with broadscale land management, I've
seen percent mycorrhizal colonization improve
many times by improving the complexity and
functionality of the existing soil foodweb.

Blending mycorrhizal inoculum with compost teas
and extracts at time of application is very common
and seems to work pretty good. I have documented
ectomycorrhizal colonization on pine trees using
this method.
