hello somydi
1st link explains how to do a 5 gal one using a water bottle by the stephen=
storch, he's the guy i think who thought up the
whole concept.
2nd shows one actually working
next 2 links will take you to a site where you can purchase the pvc split t=
hat goes under your tank. one is a 4way split,
and one is a 5way split like in first 2 links. commerical ones that y=
ou can buy ready, use 4way split, 6th link. if getting
one of these you may have to file the inside so opening is is full 2 inches=
or 1 1/2" what ever you decide to use.
i made myself a 15 gal cone shaped tank just like commerical ones. i =
saw 10 gal cone shaped tanks but not 5. iused the
5way 2" split to allow enough space for compost and material to flow free i=
n system, the gray one in 4th link. at time i made
mine they didn't have 4 way split. mine is made like video in 5th lin=
k, w/water reentering through top of tank. compost
and what ever you put in there is free flowing, no bag used. not only=
does it make great tea but it mixes and stirs like nothing
else. sometimes i'll do just a stir of kelp extact w/humic acids for =
an hour or so or make a protozoa soup w/just alfalfa meal,
or just stir some micronized minerials, rock dust, soft rock phos, azomite,=
ect. and apply as drench or spray. so it mixes, stirs,
and adds oxygen at same time. really cool thing to have. really=
glad i made mine.
will send another email w/a short video of mine, cause i didn't know how to=
include w/this email
last link is to person who made brewer in 5th link. he was helpful an=
d anwsered any questions i had when making mine.
get back to me if you decide to pursue this and i will help you any way i c=
an.
aloha

Subject: [compost_tea] Vortex Brewing Question
I am new to brewing and in my research on making a 5 gallon tea brewer, I a=
m thinking of making a vortex type. The only information I am not sure abou=
t is if I should contain the compost in a bag or let it cycle through the b=
rewer. If I let it cycle then I will need to think about pipe sizing? Havin=
g read so much on the benefits of compost tea, I am looking forward to maki=
ng my own so any helpful ideas will be welcomed.
