Regardless the aspect of the patent itself which is totally absurd
I would like to draw the attention of this list for the idea itself.
This is something I have been working for a while. I was trying
myself to develop a chitinase rich compost buy nurturing fungi
specialized in degrading chitin.
How ? Simply by feeding crustaceous ( sp.?) powder to try to
develop a chitin loving flora in the compost.
ow by feeding How ?
If this guy is right we could them feed worms in the same way
and worm casting will be full of chitinase producing organisms.
Now, this worm compost can be used to make Compost Tea
and theoretically this compost tea will have those chitinase
producing organisms that can attack and destroy insects.
Another reason to make fungal Compost Tea instead
of Bacterial Compost Tea because the critters who makes chitinase are
fungi and not bacteria.
Anyone can do that. Patent or no patent.
I will run to the nearest worm bin and will start to feed them Shrimp
shell powder to see if their casting will be rich in chitinase producing
organisms. According to the person applying for the patent the fire ants
will tell you if the compost has chitinase or not. They will not cross
over it.
I believe that this brings a new field of study and experimentation for
everyone . Even for SFI . New tests for those organisms needs to be
designed based on chitin degradation.
Please let me know if the whole idea does make sense.

Can you tell us how it would be possible for this patent to be used by
the inventor?
I don't really understand what is being patented. The abstracts are
just descriptions of natural processes. What is the patent? How can a
patent like this be used?
