[compost_tea] Re: back on the list !
to Feast of Fields glad to have you back among us!! Seems the list
is missing some who had good input. This is not a reply but a note:
We pursue in our long mild fall weather, Seattle, the idea that CT is
better, more effective and less expensive than trying to clean away
all the microbes from under fruit trees and raspberry patches and
grape vineyards is to soak the ground with CT. Certainly all the
scraping and raking will not remove the microbes. The CT will ( we
think ) overwhelm the adverse microbes and establih beneficial
microbes in the soil that will increase in number and effect all
winter. CT will add to the soil and root development all winter.
CT will reduce the disease problems and insect problems by spring.
Is that right, Elaine? Tom? Joel? Jeff? Paul? Gita? Seaneen?
Dan ? Glen? Feast of Fields,Who else?? everybody, Lets hear your
thoughts!!
We have been working our 'fleet' of Bob's bewers daily to produce the
tea to do this for our customers. As it got colder the tests started
to drop in fungal count. So for the last brews we started with 80
degree water, a bit more sweet stuff, heavyier on the kelp, some
Alaska humus, a little humic acid and whoops, the Fungal count
increased from a disappointing 1.0 and less to 8.9+ along
with "excellent" bacteria.
I'm convinced that the brewer is important in the tea process but the
operation, temperatures, quality of water, quality of compost and
nutrients have more to do with results than the brewer - as long as
the brewer retains enogh O2.
Too much commercial, Tom? from Bob, new address, bob@bnbrew.com
SOON a new web site will be bnbrew.com - not yet, but soon !!
