Re: [compost_tea] Re: Humisolve

Hi Charlie -

We need to do a control which would be the tea without the addition of the humic acid material, and a plus humic acid treatment, at whatever amount per gallon the producer indicates. We'd monitor total and active bacteria, total and active fungi, and protozoa in the two teas, as well as oxygen levels in the plus humic acid.

We already know what the oxygen will do in the control tea, we've run enough of these, and guess what, it's the same every time, given a reasonably simialr compost, and similar molasses and kelp additions.

So much for the two "bacteria tea" companies that say there's too much variation from tea to tea that the teas are too dissimilar from run to run that measure something like organisms. Excuse my French, but, bullshit!

I'd like to add the two teas to standard tomato plugs, and monitor the improvement in growth as compared to the conventional plugs without tea addition.

Cost, you ask? It takes an hour to set everything up to get started ($50), an hour to do the oxygen readings and computer work ($50), $240 for the organism assays, and the plant trials would be an additional $100 per three sets of plugs (control, control tea, humic acid tea). So, say $450 for each control - product comparison.

We could chose some other plant than tomato, if you wanted.

If a group went together and decided on a set of products they would like to see done, everyone could share in the cost.
