Title: Re: [compost_tea] Re: CT Naming, NOP &
Manure
Well, while everything is up for grabs, what about "tea"
itself? Is this stuff really tea? In what way does that
term apply, other than they are both liquid?
These days, it is very common to make verbs into nouns, so
"aerate" could become both a noun AND a verb; oxygenate is
an example. "The aerate was ready to be sprayed."
[Just an idea.]
I make my um..."liquid compost aerate" in a 50 gallon
oak barrel with 4 air stones, a whopping big air pump and electric
immersion heater. When I show it to people they mostly
immediately speak of it as a "witch's brew", which is
neither a "scientific" nor positive image.
So instead of brewing we do aerating. But how do you say
"The brew can be used..." but substitute aeration in
there? I'm sorry, I need some help.
The tea was brewed.... The tea was aerated.... OK, I
can see that. Substitute aeration for brewing.
Does that meet everyone's approval?
"Aerated compost tea" - doesn't get rid of the perception of
steeping with heated water.
