RES: [compost_tea] Kelp

I know that this question was not addressed to me but
evidently that Elaine was refering to Kelp Meal and not
Soluble Kelp Extract.
Soluble kelp extracts nutrients, that include several groups
of compounds including plant growth regulators ( citokinins ),
are readily available.
Kelp meal. on the other hand, will have to be degraded by soil
organisms before plants can utilize them.
That same principle applies to all organic matter. Plants can't
extract nutrients from organic matter. Only soil organisms can do that.
In order for plants absorb any nutrient it has to be on a soluble
or otherwise available form.

Hi Elaine,
You wrote recently >Plants can't access the nutrients
in
kelp material.<
Can you explain this further please - does this apply to the liquid kelp
products that are used in foliar spray mixes?
Thanks
Lloyd Charles
