[compost_tea] Re: SoilSoup machine

Whoa, let's not cause people to throw away their SSbioblenders. It can make
a bacterial tea, and I'm not yet convinced it can't be used for fungal teas,
per Susan's suggestion. Has anybody tried fungal recipes? It's a neat little
machine and a good package. I've found it also makes a dynamite nutrient tea
for watering, with a quart of vermicompost, tied up in a 1 gal paint filter
with a 1 lb rock inside, set on the bottom of a 6 gallon pail (5 gals
water), blender pointed at, and agitated by hand a few times. Running for
maybe an hour or less. I'm sure it makes a good watering and feeding for
plants every once in a while.

The SS machine may not inject a lot of air, but it certainly doesn't take
any away, and I think as Jeff suggests people may be using too much sugar.
You gotta figure you're working at or below ambient DO. Hmm?

I wonder elsewise if you added some fungal food and laid or sprayed the
tea on good mulch or compost could you achieve fungal goals... if you can
grow fungi beforehand, and during tea making, why not on the ground or
plants afterward?

I also have a hard time figuring how 40 lbs of water in a bucket can be
tipped by a 4 1/2 lb machine... Try a table or a bench next time, guy...:-)
Storage in a 2 lb bucket is another issue, I agree. That's why garages,
barns and garden sheds have walls and shelves, last I checked.
