---Well Bob I am looking at the old micro book trying to begin an
answer to this question. ... And find out some bacteria are even
found in pickling fluids. And K+ salts and Na+ salts are present in
varying amounts in these extreme halophiles but the bulk of their
high salt content is K+. I am guessing they're probably not
pathogenic since we don't get sick eating pickles and since
pathogenic bacteria naturally thrive under physical conditions
similar to those of the mammalian body. However, pathogens can
withstand a rather wide range of temperature, osmotic pressure and
pH. I don't have any idea when they become sleepers. This bug world
is complicated.
