Steve Diver;
You mention the compost fleece. I have asked about its use and the reason f=
or its use. Is it to keep the pile warm, is it to keep the wind from desicc=
ating the pile, is it to stop evaporation, or is it to keep rain from over-=
watering the pile? I visited a composter who does it on a very big scale. H=
e had a heap of compost fleece lying on the ground unused and said it was m=
ore trouble than it was worth under our conditions. I have been advised to =
cover my piles with straw - even so I notice the windward side is dried out=
 quicker and the temperature lower there. The commercial composter also bel=
ieves 100% shade cloth would work as well as fleece.
However if you can convince me I'll give it a try.
Steve
