Re: salt on grass



In my experience high K levels in harvested forages (and we see some
grasses in the 6% range) is the result of management decisions (or
problems) regarding heavy manure application to the land.  As animal
densities increase high soil K is sure to become an even bigger problem.

It seems to me dumping NaCl on fields is neither smart nor sustainable
over the long term.  I believe we need to look at other options.  Like
different management for the fields from which dry cow feed is harvested.

I don't have any great answers to the problem, but using NaCl just doesn't
sound like a smart move to me.
