Re: Living Mulch

For garlic, companion plant is supposed to be vetch, according to data
compiled in Organic Method Primer UPDATE, pf 176.

Chickweed is a very good weed, but is there a source of seed to buy? I
have scads of it in my yard, which I cherish because it is an accumulator
plant for magnesium (pg 67) and I use it in salads.

As for legumes, garlic actually inhibits growth of legumes (pg. 176).

I think, too, that he is right in boosting use of compost, above all. That
is always a great benefit, and you would ot have any bother about another
kind of plant. You could use lettuce in between plants, not hard to
harvest, is it? if you really want a living mulch.
