My, what a fuss! All you really need to do is to make the soil adequate.
If you are having so much trouble, or if you see that others are having so
many problems, you should do all you can to improve the soil, so you DON'T
HAVE the problems.

Soil is the basis, not remedies.

You should take a lesson from one of your own countrymen, John Harrison

He was an organic farmer 40 years, and long since figured out how to solve
the problems of raising potatoes.

It does not make sense for you to go through all those routines, when his
system is already known and viable and successful.

I suggest you read his book: GROWING FOOD ORGANICALLY

There is no need for half measures such as you propose. It is possible to
do it without any oils, poisons or whatever.
