Re: Watsonville pesticides/strawberries/methyl bromide/
Yes, I know it is widely reported that strawberries are the most poisoned
fruit on the grocery table.
If you would go to one of the methyl bromide meetings, you would see how
desperate are those who want to continue using it.
I went to a farm advisor-organized meeting, and the last speaker was
announced as reporting on weed killers. The sounds from the audience, long
sighs as of relief, muted hurrah-type sounds, etc. made it very plain that
this was what the audience had come for. "At last"
Why don't those growers try to figure out just WHY their crop needs so
much heavy artillery. Can't they see there has to be something wrong with
their operation, since in the wild, strawberries grow easily. If they
would turn to organic method, they would not have all those problems.
I get strawberries from an organic farm, and they are really luscious,
sweet, firm, juicy. and I don't have to worry about eating a raft of
poisons.
