Anyone who is interested in the overall productivity of the
agricultural system would do so.  For example, we often see
figures of agricultural output / total land in cultivation
in statistics from various organizations (UN FAO, for example).
These figures are useful for debating the perennial "is the world
headed for starvation?" question.

I suggest the US, considered as a whole, could not achieve the
current average yield/acre with the techniques you are advocating.
Nor could, say, China, where essentially all the organic waste is
being recycled onto the fields, yet half the nutrient inputs still
come from chemical sources.
