	Fully hipped roofs appear most stable in high winds.  Any
gables, any breaks in the fully hipped design, offer big handles for big
winds to grab on to and peel the roof off.  After Hurricane Iniki hit
Kaua'i, there were more fully hipped roofs (the old plantation style)
left intact than any other type - by far.  And those surviving old roofs
mostly didn't have "hurricane straps," whereas the peeled-off newer
gable-end roofs did.  Something to consider if winds that strong are a
possibility where one is building...
