ground water info

Dear Permaculturists,
Reading Frank's and others questions about farm water supplies led me
to post some refs. I'm an avid dowser and have been adding to my
knowledge and experience. There's a great site at US Geological Service
(http://www.usgs.gov/) which has links to lots of water info. I've just
found the down-loadable "The Groundwater Atlas to the United States" at
(http://www.capp.er.usgs.gov/publicdocs/gwa) which describes basic
ground water conditions in 14 areas of the country. Two great books are:
1979 Midwest Plan Service, "Private Water Systems Handbook, MWPS-14"
(ISBN 0-89373-045-9)(72 pages) - covers water quality, sources, pumps,
piping, water treatment, etc; and 1982 National Water Well Association
"Ground Water Hydrology for Water Well Contractors"(286 pages) which is
a nicely illustrated text covering geology, hydrology, and regional
ground water discriptions. Anyone interested about dowsing, whether for
water or lost treasure, contact me privately at lbarnes@primeline.com.
