GBlist: Vacuum's suck

David Eisenberg mentioned the benefits of having a central vacuum system
located outside the building envelope ( the building's pressure boundary, to
be precise). He mentioned the garage as a possible location. Unfortunately
heating systems, with leaking ductwork are often located in the garage, too.
Consequently, garages are often well-connected to the living space allowing
some or many of those particles back into the house. "Tuck under" garages
are the worst - in a Minnesota carbon monoxide study 80% of one house's air
exchange came thru the garage.
