GBlist: Re: Strawbale Moisture Failures

Discussion may be fine of "potential failures" of strawbale
housing under certain conditions, but:

IS there any documented case history of failure
due to moisture of a strawbale building, and
what were the building science details uncovered?

Before we publicly mention a bunch of ways they COULD fail
leading to potential misquoting and misuse of undocumented
opinion, let's get the facts. I will be happy to compile
such case histories that may come to light, but this is
important enough to consider restraint on the list until
and unless there is evidence of systematic problems. 'Till
then I believe I have seen enough of strawbale GOOD perf-
ormance to be farily comfortable building them.

The code issues are an important related area -- in case
"meeting code" means having to employ certain building
materials and finishes that could help CAUSE $$$ failures!
