GBlist: Window durability

>I'm trying to have a home designer specify high efficiency e-glass
windows for new home construction. He is telling me it is a big mistake
to get this type of window from Pella, because of recalls. Does anyone
know if sealed double and triple pane windows are very troublesome
beyond the warranty period?

The designer is recommending single pane with a snap in second pane,
which he says is more durable.<

Beware of snap in interior panes. I have seen MANY instances of severe
condensation between the snap in pane and the single glazed exterior pane.
