Having worked on Pella clad windows since their inception (25+ years old) 
, I can tell you that I have never seen evidence of rot developing behind 
the cladding. Having worked on Pella wood (Pella uses Ponderosa Pine) 
windows as old as 50 years, I can tell you that if the paint is allowed 
to fail, the window will rot. 

I can totally appreciate your sentiments about aluminum.  Just be sure to 
pass on to the clients the realities of paint maintenance.
