Existing performance measurement tools are limited to the measurement of one performance attribute. A composite performance index, which is a unified multidimensional performance measurement formalism that combines several performance indicators, such as cost, delay, throughput, connectivity, vulnerability, etc., into a single measure of performance was developed and evaluated.
Data needed were generated using a tool set that was developed. This tool set is capable of generating various topologies based on specific design criteria, parameters and established topology design algorithms. The tool set also contains a set of routines that compute a vector of performance attributes for each of the generated topologies. Part of this data generation tool set is an implementation of a model for a composite performance index that utilizes a vector of computed performance attributes for each topology to generate its performance index. The composite index was evaluated through (1) correlational analysis among the attributes and the index values and among the individual items (attributes); (2) validity and reliability analysis; (3) Multiple regression analysis, stepwise regression analysis and factor analysis to show the contribution each attribute and combinations of attributes make toward the composite index value.
The results indicates the feasibility of developing an accurate composite performance measurement index for network topology evaluation and that the index is an unbiased measure of the performance attributes. The results also showed that all of the attributes used in the index construction contributed significantly to the index value.
Existing taxonomies of network topologies are morphologically based. An attempt was made to generate a performance based taxonomy of network topologies using a cluster analysis technique. The objective was to arrive at clusters of topologies that display small within-cluster variations relative to the between-cluster variations, i.e. partition a set of generated topologies into subgroups that differ in some meaningful way, i.e. performance characteristics. The results of this classification scheme could then be used as a basis for new member identification.
Using the same set of data mentioned above, the results of the cluster analysis using the Squared Euclidean Distance-type similarity measure and Unweighted Pair Groups Method Using Arithmetic Average (UPGMA) confirmed the possibility of creating such a taxonomy. Abstract: The primary purpose of this study was to assess the stages of concerns, levels of use of computers, and the variations of computer usage and applications by the faculty of the College of Education, King Saud University (KSU) in Saudi Arabia. The study utilized the Concerns-Based Adoption Model (CBAM). The CBAM is a generic diagnostic tool that provides a means by which to describe the attitudes, feelings, motivations, performances of the group as well as the individual toward an innovation, and what the innovation means to both the actual user and potential user. To answer the study research questions, a descriptive research method was employed. |
