Title: An analysis of the resources allocated to young adults in public libraries in the thirty-eight largest Standard Metropolitan Statistical areas in the United States

Abstract: This investigation analyzed financial support for young adults services in public libraries as reported by 100 public libraries in jurisdictional units within the thirty-eight largest Standard Metropolitan Statistical Areas. The data were obtained by mail questionnaires directed to young adult information providers in more than 200 libraries serving populations of more than 50,000 inhabitants.

The data were analyzed by SPSS tests of association. Results from the Analysis of Variance, CROSSTABS and Pearson's Rank revealed no statistical significance between financial support and eight dependent variables; financial capability, organizational structure, locus of power, and the commitment of the public library or its young adult personnel to the provision of services to young adults.
