Regarding web site. I came to the conclusion we needed one soonish
about the same time as a few others did.

I've started making some pages. Nothing controversial.

I was going to put it on my web site but I am more than happy to
let the oswg group host it. OSWG seems like quite neutral
territory. Anyone disagree ?

I think the web pages should be a moderated but open affair.
ie you all contribute something towards it as your time
and interest permits.

Also perhaps those other groups who have web sites might like
to contribute a page, or perhaps just have a link from the main
site to a special page on their own site.
This way everyone gets to put their perspective/interests.

The only things I ask are that:
        a) we don't have any overly subjective (unsubstantiated) items
        b) if you want a link your site that you remain active in
                the discussions.
        c) the linked page is not just your home page - I think
it ought to be a specific page that says how
your group relates to ODE (or whatever it gets called)

If anyone disagrees with c) let me know, it is just a thought.

The pages I'm currently working on are things that will evolve
but which might be a nusiance to keep posting.
 Eg:
  * existing technology (TeXinfo, SGML, XML) with corrections
made by others. These can act as a reference for all.

  * initial proposals that I made with amendments by
  others.

The mailing list should however be notified about any
significant web page changes.

The pages I'm working on are not really key pages.
So the first thing is to create a mission statement
get a name that everyone is happy with, goals etc.

I believe that even the mission statement ought
to remain potentially open to editing if a majority
agree. Don't want to be landed with something
that doesn't meet everyones needs as needs change.

***** FOR YOU TO DO *****
So those of you who want to contribute on this
now is your chance. Send competition entries
to the list over the next couple of days.
The judge's decision is not final and I'm
sure lots of correspondence will be entered into :-)

Some have already submitted, no need to repeat.

I'll try and summarise peoples thoughts on this
some time over the weekend and mail a first draft
on monday my time (late sunday in US).

Once we know who/what we are we can invite others.

regards

        Kim
