Hi All,

  To keep you up todate:

  1) I got a _lousy_ response to the "roll call/
who do you represent" email. Thanks to
those did respond. I'll work out who's who
        when I get a chance.

The group is actually going fairly well though
with a membership of around forty, many of whom
are key members of their respective organsiation.

I'd just like to say thanks to everyone at the
very least for listening and the active members
for making the group actually continue to exist.

I really hope we can achieve something practical
     in the near future.

   2) I have created some web pages which I have
placed on my server for the moment whilst
        we debate them.

Have a look and let me know what you think.
And if you don't like something, give me something
        better.

Note. This is very much a work in progress.
I'm not yet happy with the Proposals or the
main page, it is a placeholder only.

To those of you who put input about
stepping back and figuring out precisely
what we are trying to achieve, I haven't
ignored you, I'm trying to be diligent and am
going through all the emails one at a time.
        It all takes time though.

    3) Without wishing to preempt any discussion there
has been pretty much overwhelming support for
DocBook as the "ODF" - ie core document format.
There are lots of benefits (including compatibility
        with other documentation efforts).

I'd say the next stage of this bit (not withstanding
stepping back etc) would be for interested parties to
look at the indexing features of DocBook and see
how they wouldd adapt to our ideas and the
        members' search engines.
