I just returned from a trip to Mexico where, in addition to many neat Mexican birds, I was surprised to see a couple our more common locals. On July 23 I had a Yellow-throated Warbler on Cozumel Island. On July 29 I had at least 4 Louisiana Waterthrushes in Chiapas (along a stream at the Mayan ruins in Palenque). I wasn't expecting any migrants down there yet but apparently many passerine migrants head south sooner than I had thought.
