Re: Suet preferences of certain birds



Josh & Others,

We "starling proofed" our suet feeder by attaching it to a board and
hanging the board so that it is more difficult for heavy birds to get
to.  Now all we get are nuthatches, tits,  Downy Woodpeckers and one
very talented Starling.  Our Catbirds have never been seen on the
suet (of any flavor) and we don't get Brown Thrashers in our yard
very often.  Our flock of 25 Starlings can wipe out a suet cake in
two days if I did not have a defensive strategy.

That said,  most of the birds really prefer peanuts in any form.
Their least favorite is anything with millet.
