I think my first message got lost in cyberspace so will resend. (Just as
well, I misnamed the bird in question) I think I have an immature white
eyed vireo. I first saw it acting like a kinglet but knew this wasn't
possible. Next time I got a better looks and it had yellow spectacles,
brownish eyes, wing bars,, a yellow wash on its sides, whitish throat, and a
non warbler beak. The Nat Geo said that pine warblers and white eyed vireos
can be confused so I looked for the common. But yesterday I saw it again
and I am more convinced it is a vireo. I live in Hillsborough and the bird
has been flitting in holly and other trees getting bugs. I am bad with
sizes but it is a bit bigger than a kinglet but smaller than a house finch.
Thanks in advance for the help. barb brooks
