I can second Peter's recommendation of Black Gums as superior food source
for fall migrants. I sure wish I had one in our yard. Unfortunately, if
you don't have them, it may take too long to plant one and wait for it to
grow up and reproduce. As a short-term alternative, I can highly recommend
American Beautyberry. We have been planting them in the yard, and they
reproduce well in 2-3 years after planting from gallon-sized plants.
Thrushes and vireos love the fruit...
