Birders,
Mecklenburg Audubon took a 1/2 day field trip to Cowan's Ford Refuge on Sat.
10- 23 to concentrate on sparrows. In all we had 10 species (E. Towhee,
savannah, chipping, field, song, swamp, white-throated, D. E. junco,
GRASSHOPPER, and VESPER.). The best bird we had was a SEDGE WREN, the first
for the refuge I believe.
I've seen ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS at two different locations in the county
today and yesterday 10-24.
Heard PURPLE FINCHES flying over 10-23 and today 10-25.
