This weekend Janet and I took our usual 1 mi walk around the neighborhood.
The wild grapes apparently were just right! We saw 2 flocks of 50 each of
robins. The season's first hermit thrushes were busy (3 were seen). We
saw a small flock of cedar waxwings (winter's first). and about 20 bluebirds.
Other stuff included the usual suspects, and our resident flock of chipping
sparrows ( about 15).
We also saw about a dozen male cardinals working the bushes for grapes.
We went butterflying Sunday at Quail Roost and saw a female lesser scaup,
and a coopers hawk as well as a bunch of meadowlarks.
Georgeous day.
