Hi everyone,
At about 10:15 AM during a somewhat heavy rain, happened to look outside
to see a flock of Grackles flying over. A HUGE flock of at least 500 stopped
for about 15 minutes in the yard. Was rather noisy to say the least. My 9
yr. old son, who was home sick today got to see this too (and thinks my
estimate is way too low). They came in form the North, and left in a
southerly direction, straight for the area we used to live and where I
witnessed the same thing some years ago. The trees around the yard were
filled with Grackles there.
Also noticed an Eastern Towhee, a new yard bird, hanging out near the
Pokeweed by the kitchen window, accompanied by some Juncos, Wh. Thr.
Sparrows, and a Chipping Sparrow in some weedy grasses.
Lastly, saw the Red-breasted Nuthatch again. Saw 2 together yesterday.
They're very cute.
