Re: Cedar Waxwings



I was also thinking about seeing Cedar Waxwings this weekend, especially
since our heavily laden hollies are already looking ripe.  We have small
numbers of birds here in the warmer months. Surely a few pair breed in the
Sandhills but it is in January and February when we are absolutely beseiged
with waxwings (as is most of the Peidmont).  Yesterday, however, I was
pleasantly surprised when I heard a familiar wheezy, high piched call--  a
small flock landed in the tops of our huge red oaks about 3 PM.
