I did some birding at Jordan Lake (Chatham Co. NC) yesterday (11/28) and
found a few birds. The highlight was at the Farrington Road bridge - a
shining adult male Common Merganser at the usual spot at the northeast corner
(old roadbed area). Also saw 3 female Red-breasted Mergs and 3 Lesser Scaup
from the bridge. Lots of Bonaparte's Gulls around.
Stopped at Crosswinds Marina and was pleasantly surprised to see gulls (all
Ring-billed) loafing on the breakwater. This is the first time I've seen
them there since the old tire breakwater was replaced with the new
concrete(?) one.
Ebenezer was pretty quiet -- the highlight was a raft of 100 or so coots.
The dam was interesting with dozens of Turkey Vultures loafing on top and
Bonaparte's sailing by at close range from the lake to the spillway.
