Folks:
I birded Hooper Lane and Super Sod at about 3:30 PM this date. My
main reason for going, was to try and get the Short-eared Owl for my new,
2000 Mountain List. After running like a mad man to get 215 species for my
1999 Mountain List, I thought I'd be resting, but so much for that. I
didn't see the Short-eared, we had 2 yesterday, but I did get 5 Lapland
Longspurs in with a flock of Am. Pipits. The birds were feeding is some
patches of thin grass, in the tilled field, just north of Super Sods
northern most field (just north of the orange Allied Van trailer.)
I received a call this evening from John Smith who said he had a
Short-eared Owl hunting the fields off Jeffress Rd. just before dusk, the
saga continues!
Happy New Year
to all!
