Okay,
After much delay, I finally put together enough free time today <sigh> to go
see the little fellow, and he was most definitely spectacular! I've been
reading with immense jealousy the reports from all of you who have gone and
seen this guy, and I (of course) picked a really nasty cold day to go see
him...but it was well worth it. I'll second the rounds of thanks to Lori
Turner for her hospitality (and almost saintly patience).
On the note of Dennis Burnette's finding of the pair of Barnacle Geese, any
one willing to weigh in on the probability of these being escapes/etc.?
This is getting to be a pretty good run of really nice birds around these
parts lately...
Also, I am thinking of driving to Goldsboro Monday (weather permitting) or
Tuesday AM - I've been once for the Vermilion, but I was unaware, much like
Josh, that sudden tectonic shifts had swapped the coasts. Anyone from
Durham/CH area feels like tagging along, drop me a note or call me at home,
(919) 361-2313.
