Hello-
Late today I dropped in on Lori Turner and the mango to be sure all was
going well. So far, 450-500 folks have been by and the phone is still
ringing off the hook. The hummer is definitely still there-- mostly
feeding next door due to the appropriation of all the feeders in Lori's
yard by a mockingbird. I gave Lori another feeder, one with a perch, and
we decided she would try it on the south side (next to driveway) of the
house where it may be protected but away from the mocker. So, for anyone
visting there in the near future, look to the left as you go up the drive
for activity at that feeder. And then be sure to stand away from that area
if you are watching for the bird either in Lori's or the neighbors yard.
The best spot is inside Lori's gate--- that way you will be well away from
both of the feeders.
*IMPORTANT: Since we will be getting bad weather- wet and cold temps
tomoorw-- PLEASE stand as far back away from the feeders and be as quiet as
possible if you go for a visit Sunday or Monday!! The mango looks healthy
but any interuptions in its feeding over the next few days may be harmful.
So be VERY aware of your actions as well as those of other visitors who may
not be as mindful of the situation. Making it through this second bout of
unseasonable cold, wet and icy weather will certainly be stressful for the
uynmemr and all of us-- since the Storm of The Century is still rather
fresh in our minds!!
Thanks and good luck to anyone venturing to Concord over the next 36 hours--
