Ironically, my favorite lifer of the year in the Carolinas was found in
North Carolina.  It would be the Warbling Vireos in Asheville.  Getting to
see and hear those birds was really fun.  Thanks again, Len, for literally
leading us to the tree they were in!

Running close seconds are birds closer to home - Buff-breasted Sandpipers at
Super Sod in Orangeburg and an Iceland Gull at south Edisto Beach.  Finding
the Buff-breasted was fun; taking my friend Sharon Brown back a week later
and finding them again and listening to her exclaim about them was even more
fun. The Iceland was a "bonus bird".  Sharon and I went to south Edisto to
watch the dolphins.  The Iceland just happened to fly by while we were
there.  It was a lifer for both of us.
