Dear Birders,
Since Greenview was frozen over this morning, I decided to get my daily duck
fix by visiting some other ponds in the area.
Yates Mill Pond (Partially Frozen)
20 Hooded Mergansers
10 Ring Necked Ducks
3 Buffleheads (male)
1 Hyperactive Kingfisher
NCSU Farm Pond (Partially Frozen)
8 Greater Scaup
8 Bufflehead
(These were especially uncooperative ducks. My counting was made very
difficult by their incessant diving! There may have been as many as 256
ducks in the pond, but I only saw 16 at any given time.)
Lake Wheeler (From Penny Rd)
100+ Ruddy Ducks
32 Redheads (Okay, there might have been a few blondes mixed in.)
20 Hooded Mergansers
1 Great Blue Heron
0 Jet-skis - Help keep it that way by signing my online petition

Yesterday I had a few white crowned sparrows visiting one of my platform
feeders.
Happy Holidays Everyone!
