C'Birders:
No Toast. Stupid lake is part frozen from the stupid weather. I am getting
frozen hunting our friends every AM. And today was colder still . . never
see this much ice on our lake. Grumble, grumble, grumble.
Mr. Tea, aka the male Black-chinned hummingbird, made me wait longer for him
today. And I usually wait til he feeds twice, so I walked around to see
what the jays were yelling about. Never saw anything except 2
Yellow-bellied sapsuckers on one tree which I think is a first here for me,
2 on one tree that is.
BUT, back in my nice warm house I discovered that the probably immature
Ruby-throated Hum-bird is partaking of our beverages and sunning itself in
our trees. Not surprisingly it has chosen the feeders furthest from the
McCormick's and the mean Mr. Tea. So take heart those who were worried
about it. It may be the smartest of them all.
I expect Susan to band this weekend, Hurray!
Oh, and several well-respected birders have been to see the Black-chinned
and have confirmed my identity, also the Ruby-throated.
Good birding,
