Wake waterfowl

The thawing of the local lakes appears to have allowed for the movement of
waterfowl in southern Wake County. The large rafts of ducks on Lake Wheeler
appear to have broken up and the birds dispersed. Incidentally the 5 or so Mute
Swans reported over the weekend have moved on.

If you need any "year ducks" in Wake County may I make the following
suggestions:

NCSU dairy- Northern Shoveler, Lesser Scaup, Mallard, Bufflehead

Lake Wheeler- Ruddy Duck, Hooded Merganser

Greenview Pond- Back in business! Green-winged Teal, Gadwall, Ring-necked Duck,
Mallard John Argentati's feeder had several adult and immature White-crowned
Sparrows feeding over the weekend and this afternoon.

West Lake Pond- Bufflehead, Canvasback, REDHEAD (single drake observed yesterday
for my first sighting at this location), American Wigeon

A sense of normalcy returns...
