Mr. Pasquerella was very unfair in his post. Obviously, he did not know
that our friend and fellow CBC member, Dr. Clancy Ballenger is a true
conservationist. He has created several impoundments, at his plantation
in Jones County, for ducks and other water loving birds. Even though a
duck hunter, he has never shot over or allowed shooting at these
impoundments. He has also devoted large areas of his land to passerine
habitat and has planted, at no small expense, large wildflower fields
for butterflies.
Clancy has always welcomed birders and "lepers" to his land and has
encouraged and organized many migration counts in Jones County (one of
NC's least birded areas). He travels extensively to see birds and will
be in Arizona again, in the near future.
Others have adequately explained the value of Falconer activities, so I
will not prolong that thread. Dr Ballenger deserves better and I hope
that subscribers to our list serve will not attack a member in the
future, especially out of IGNORANCE!
