At sunrise this morning I visited one of Hal Broadfoot's favorite
spots, County Road 2221 in Cumberland Co. On the ponds past the end
of the road I did find a phoebe plus lots of other good birds,
including a northern harrier, pileated woodpecker, redheads, ruddy
ducks, a hen canvasback, and field sparrows. On the way out I
stopped several times to check bunches of sparrows, finding
white-throated, song, and savannah sparrows. I got especially good
looks at the savannahs.
