Caw Caw birdwalk



The following are highlights of the 3 hour Wednesday morning birdwalk at
Charleston County's Caw Caw Park which is located on US 17 in Ravenel, SC
about 10 miles south of the intersection of US 17 and US 526.  The walk is
led by Perry Nugent at 8:30 am.  A small fee is charged.  Bring binoculars

60 species were seen and/or heard on a nice day that starts out cool and
partly cloudy, but warming up with overcast.  The most interesting were; 2
adult Bald Eagles, 1 Northern Harrier, 2 Sharp-shinned Hawks, 1 Cooper's
Hawk, 4 Red-shouldered Hawks, 1 Red-tailed Hawk, 1 American Kestrel, 1 King
Rail, 2 Solitary Sandpipers, 3 Common Snipe, 1 King and 2 Queenfishers, 4
Pileated Woodpeckers, 5 Eastern Phoebes, 6 Eastern Bluebirds, 8 Gray
Catbirds, 5 northern Parula Warblers, 1 Chestnut-sided Warbler, 6 Pine
Warblers, 8 Palm Warblers, 4 Prairie Warblers, 4 Black-and-white Warblers, 4
Northern Waterthrushes, 1 American Redstart and 9 American Yellowstarts, 1
Summer Tanager, 5 Indigo Buntings, and 3 Painted Buntings.
