Asheville-area folks concerned about bird habitat, please mark your
calendars -- Saturday, Oct. 25 -- and plan to come help remove
exotic/invasive plants at Beaver Lake Bird Sanctuary in north
Asheville. We'll work from 9 am to noon and from 1 to 3 pm.
Refreshments provided, lunch on your own if you're working all day.
Bring loppers, weeders, shovels, spades and grub hoes/mattocks
(putting some i.d. on your tools is a good idea). Because of poison
ivy, long pants, long sleeves and work gloves are a good idea.
The volunteer work you put in will help Elisha Mitchell Audubon match
a grant from the Fish and Wildlife Foundation to a coalition of
Asheville groups that calls itself the Asheville Weed Team. The
grant will fund a number of projects in the Asheville area. We'll
provide additional information about weeding ops at BLBS at the work
day.
Hope to see you Oct. 25. It would help if you let me know you plan to come.
