good, bad, ...ugly

1) BAD: This isn't the worst site I've ever visited, but it definitely has
faults. It's the CIA's web site:

. . . . . http://www.odci.gov/

It starts out well enough, with a front page very similar to the universtiy
pages we looked at. However, each of the links leads to what appear to be
completely different sites; there's no layout continuity. The employment
pages look one way, the FOIA pages look utterly different, as do the Public
Affairs Staff pages, and so on. I'm not saying they should all come out of a
cookie cutter a la UNC sororities, but it should be obvious that they're
interrelated.
Furthermore, just a few clicks into any given section of the site and there is
no apparent easy way back "home." Getting lost is easy. Also, if I remember
correctly, somewhere on the site, in the employment section I think, is a
series of links which lead in circles. The hypertext is different on
different pages, but they lead to the same URLs.

2) GOOD: This site selection was purely serendipitous. I grew hungry while
doing homework, so I ordered a pizza:

. . . . . http://www.papajohns.com/

I really like the site. It's straightforward and simple. They utilize a
consistent theme throughout the site and it's easy to navigate. There are
some flaws, but hey! they let you order pizza online!
