Nifty Javascript
For those of you just learning JavaScript, here's a site worth taking a
look at:
http://housing.unc.edu/
Take a look at the source ...
The load time really bites if you're using a 28.8K modem, but the effects
are rather nifty.
Also, take a look at the source of the home page of University of
Georgia, http://www.uga/edu. Using similar JavaScript, they produce a
slightly different effect (with a shorter load time, BTW).
Of course, if you're on web-walkers, you already know this.
Also, a comment on the program I posted earlier ...
I've tried both Soundedit (the program demoed in class) and dSoundPro.
dSoundPro has support for more formats, including MIDI, but the learning
curve is a little higher. It's also $30 as opposed to $15. It all really
depends on what you want to do. If you want to just record a line in and
apply rather simple effects, Soundedit is the way to go. For more
complicated manipulations or MIDI, dSoundPro is the way to go. One final
comment, dSoundPro kept giving me a weird error (something generated by a
compiler, not a system error or standard dialog box) when I tried it out.
I'm using a Powerbook 1400 with MacOS 8, so I don't know if there is a
similar situation with MacOS 7.5.x.
Cheers,
John, alpha stat geek and sick weirdo who writes to a class list on a
Friday night :)
