Re: network computers

a number of trade magazines have done features on NCs, but you might also
be interested in primary sources/hype. Oracle's Larry Ellison is a mojor
proponent of the NC; you can get his vision from http://www.oracle.com/
AND http://www.nc.com/ Sun's Scott McNealy has been taling up someting
like the NC for years beginning with his diskless workstations, his
dataless workstations and most recently the Java Station (see
http://www.sun.com/javastation/). Intel's answer is the Net PC see
http://www.intel.com/businesscomputing/netpc/ Microsoft as you might
imagine sides with Intel in a long rationalizing piece in ther Educational
Computing publication http://www.microsoft.com/education/partner/pcvs.htm
Every one of these articles are too long on hype, but I think you can pick
your way thru them without too much trouble.
