Youth Darts - Coming Soon!
It's probably happened to all of us at one point in time or another - we're out of town on business (or just on vacation to a new town) and, having remembered to pack our darts, we start wondering where we can find some cold beer, a few good boards and some local competition. Where to start looking? Most dart leagues aren't listed in the Yellow Pages so maybe we ask the concierge at the hotel (who fixes us with a really odd look) or just grab a cab and hope the driver even knows what darts are.
Well, there has to be a better way to find out where the dart players hang out in various towns. Since the Research Triangle Park* area of central North Carolina attracts folks from all over the world, we thought we'd try and offer up a reasonably comprehensive guide to the steeltip dart activities in our little corner of the world.
This guide is undoubtedly incomplete, but given that we have more dart leagues than you can shake an oche at, we can say that we offer here at least a representative sampling of places to while away a few friendly hours in a pub that's sure to be near where you might happen to be at any moment. Hopefully, you'll come back and see us again!
The RTP may not be as exotic as many of the places that Dartoid (Paul Seigel) travels to in his work with the International Fund for Animal Welfare and we can't offer you the weirdly exotic adventures he chronicles for Bulls Eye News and Cyber/Darts, but we can offer you a friendly, challenging game or three, cold beer and friendships that will last longer than your short visit with us.
We hope you'll bookmark this site and check in any time you're in the mood to travel down our way. The dart scene, as we all know, is constantly changing - pubs come and go, leagues come and go at those pubs and there are always new places to add when we find out about them. Tell your dart-playing business associates about our site and remind them to hold on to their portables at the airport metal detectors - we want them to be able to load our site when they get to their hotel room!
If you have a spare minute, we'd love to hear from you! Does this site help our out-of-town friends find a close-by place to throw? How many small local dart pubs have we missed in this edition? Just email us!
Y'all come now, y'heah?
* The RTP is surrounded by Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and Cary ("Containment Area for Relocated Yankees") and many smaller communities, most of which sport at least one dart pub. Check the Pub Listing for a good sampling of what we have to offer. Most pubs on our list have links to a page or more on CitySearch so you can get a better idea of their location (just click the "Show me on a map" button on the home page for each bar).
