It appears you are just beginning Churchill's history. Since you
have expressed such enthusiasm for the Divine Comedy and its
spiritual nourishment and message, I fear you will find Churchill
to be somewhat the opposite. I too found his formidable
skills at chronicling historical events and developments, and
especially personalities, fascinating and enriching in many ways.
At the same time he is a die-hard racist of the worst kind -
having so much power, for one thing - setting forth shamelessly,
but with great clarity and force, the detestable and ruinous creed
of Ango-Saxonism, a belief system very much contrary to the one
(which I personally adhere to) embodied in Dante's great poem.
You may not agree with this, or even what to hear it (in that case
I apologize), but I thought I would draw your attention to the
enromous values chasm between these two writers.
